Advanced Nurse Practitioners
Advanced Nurse Practitioners are experienced nurses who have undergone higher level training in a variety of subjects. They see patients on a day to day basis like a GP would and are able to assess/diagnose /treat and refer in accordance with local policy and guidelines. They have a prescribing qualification and are able to prescribe within their own clearly defined remit.
Practice Nurse (Prescriber)
RACHEL ELVEN
Qualified RGN for nearly 30 years and a practice Nurse for 11 years. Her scope of practice includes diabetes, advanced diabetic management / insulin initiation, respiratory, spirometry, cervical screening, IUD removal, childhood and adult immunisation, travel assessment and immunisation, FIT notes, and a Non Medical Prescriber.
Nurses
GEORGINA SYMES
A nurse for 7 years and a practice nurse for just over 1 year. She has worked as an AMU nurse and as a district nurse. She does baby and adult immunisations, smears, bloods, ECGs and injectable medications.
BETH DYSON
A Nurse for over 10 years and a Practice Nurse for 2 years. She offers baby and adult immunisations, injections such as B12 and Zoladex, chronic disease management (mainly hypertension and asthma reviews), smear tests, bloods, blood pressure checks and lifestyle management.
Health Care Assistant
KELLY COUPE
Kelly carries out NHS health checks, blood tests, blood pressure checks, annual diabetic reviews, cardiovascular reviews, hypertension reviews and ECG's
Mental Health Practitioner
Offers a safe space to discuss mental health queries and concerns either Face to Face or over the telephone. Their role involves offering support and signposting to services who can offer further support and counselling. They also have links with more specialist mental health services and can make referrals to them where necessary.

First Contact Physio
Musculoskeletal first contact practitioners are physiotherapists with enhanced skills. They can help patients with musculoskeletal issues such as back, neck and joint pain by:
-Assessing and diagnosing issues
-Giving expert advice on how best to manage their conditions.
-Referring them onto specialist services if necessary.
Health and Wellbeing Coach
Helps to guide and support self-management, support patients to develop knowledge, skills and confidence to become active participants in their care and to engage proactively with other services that can offer help when they need it. They work alongside people to coach them through multiple sessions, supporting them to self-identify their needs and set and meet achievable goals.

Elaine has been with the practice since 1998 and has recently become our Deputy Practice Manager. Elaine helps Emma with the day to day running of the practice.
Secretaries
We have administrative staff including receptionists, Secretary, Clerical Officers and Notes Summarisers. All staff have undergone training and are ready to help you at any time. They may need to ask you for further details when you telephone for medical advice – This is to ensure we can assist you as quickly as possible. All staff are bound by the same rules of confidentiality

Reception
The Reception Team are the first point of contact for the Practice and can help you find out about the services we provide. They are trained in Care Navigation and can direct you to the most appropriate Clinician to meet your needs
Foundation Year Two Doctors
All doctors go through a 2 year foundation course after qualification. This involves some hospital speciality training and 4 months general practice training in their second year. They are known as "FY2 doctors". Haslingden Healthcare has been appointed as a Foundation Year Two Training Practice.
The FY2 doctors are under the supervision of Dr Z Ibrahim.
Practice Pharmacist
The role of the practice pharmacist is to support the practice health care team in matters related to medicines. Whilst this role involves much background work to improve prescribing, the pharmacist also carries out screening medication reviews when looking at patient records during audits. Records may be updated or patients referred on for a face to face review with a health care professional in the practice.
District Nurses
District Nurses operate as a team, led by a specialist practitioner, for patients confined to their homes. Tel: 01706 235321, out of hours 01254 291146.
Health Visitors
Health Visitors are Specialist Registered Nurses with a degree in preventative health care. They have specialist knowledge in areas such as nutrition, behaviour, sleep, immunisations, emotional health and relationships. There is a Health Visitor present at all child health clinics. They can be contacted between 9 am to 5 pm Monday to Friday through the community office on 0300 247 0040.
Community Midwives
Community Midwives are concerned with the antenatal (pregnancy care) and postnatal health (after the birth of a baby for a few weeks) of all mothers. They can be contacted on 01706 238355.
Community Mental Health Team
A team of mental health professionals are available at Balladen House, Union Road in Rawtenstall. They have many functions in the community including care of people with chronic mental illness and long term counselling needs. Access to this service is via the GP or directly on 0845 057 0056.
