Treatment Room Nurses

The treatment room staff carry out routine nursing tasks by appointment after the patient has been seen by the doctor. These include wound care and ear syringing . Specialist clinics run by the District Nurses also take place in the treatment room eg leg ulcer clinics. Appointments can be made by either telephoning 01706 235417 between 9 am and 5 pm or alternatively using the internal telephone outside the treatment room.

Blood tests are no longer done in the treatment room. To make an appointment for blood tests contact your GP receptionist.

District Nurses

District Nurses operate as a team, led by a specialist practitioner, for patients confined to their homes.

Specialist Nurse Practitioner

Responsible for initial contact with all patients resident in nursing or residential homes. Specialist expertise in diagnosis and treatment, including prescribing for the elderly.

Health Visitors

Health Visitors are Specialist Registered Nurses with a degree in preventative health care. They have specialist knowledge in areas such as nutrition, behaviour, sleep, immunisations, emotional health and relationships. There is a Health Visitor present at all child health clinics. They can be contacted between 9 am to 5 pm Monday to Friday through the community office on 01706 0300 247 0040


Tilly Berry Community Midwives are concerned with the antenatal (pregnancy care) and postnatal health (after the birth of a baby for a few weeks) of all mothers.

Please note that we do not offer any drop in clinics and all appointments must be booked in advance.

Community Mental Health Team

A team of mental health professionals are available at

   Balladen House
   Union Road
   BB4 6NE

They have many functions in the community including care of people with chronic mental illness and long term counselling needs. Access to this service is via the GP or directly on 0845 057 0056.


Treatment will be given to patients who have an underlying medical problem or a severe problem that affects their feet, regardless of age. Priority is given to high risk groups such as those with diabetes, circulatory problems and rheumatoid conditions.
You may now self referral – you will need to contact the surgery to collect a referral form

Please note that this service does not treat verrucas.


A dietician is available following consultation with your doctor or nurse for specialist assessment of dietary needs. This will include all diabetics and those in need of diaetary supplements.

Primary Care Practice Pharmacist

The role of the practice pharmacist is to support the practice health care team in matters related to medicines. Whilst this role involves much background work to improve prescribing, the pharmacist also carries out screening medication reviews when looking at patient records during audits. Records may be updated or patients referred on for a face to face review with a health care professional in the practice. At present our practice pharmacist, Anne Bentley regularly visits the practice on Wednesdays. She is employed by the CCG.

Health Centre Pharmacy

Opening hours are as follows:-

  • Monday to Friday 8.30am to 6.30 pm
  • Saturday closed.
  • Sunday as per rota (see pharmacy staff for further details)
