Baby Massage

My Grand Child Touch is the first sense to develop in babies. It is an important means of communication. Massage is an important opportunity for contact, play and verbal communication. It encourages good relationships. It promotes security, confidence and independence and helps towards balanced development. Research demonstrates that massaging babies benefits heart rate, breathing and digestion. It also stimulates the immune system, increasing resistance to disease. Massage cleans, softens and improves skin texture, moisturising dry skin. It can be extremely useful with sleeping, colic, constipation and teething problems.

Parents find that massaging their babies is very relaxing, it also gives them permission to touch and get to know their baby. The baby massage group offers an opportunity to meet other parents, it reduces isolation and provides social support.

Babies are massaged with pure grapeseed oil. A choice of 6 essential oils are available if parents wish to use them. Guidance is given regarding safe use of oils and appropriate massage techniques.
